“Life is spiraling out of control for pediatric nurse, Juliet Farr. Heart-broken, grief-stricken, and experiencing a crisis of faith—now she is the prime target for a crazed killer. When her ex-boyfriend, detective Max Bennett, returns to work the case in the Oregon Coast, he knows sharing the truth behind their break-up will destroy any possibility of a second chance together.

A manuscript, a maniac, and a mother’s love propel Juliet’s flight to a beach in Mexico as she desperately pursues hope and healing. Will she ever find freedom from the ache of abandonment? And when a troubled soul chooses Juliet as his perfect victim, can Max prove his love for her by risking his own life? Or will Orphan Beach be the end of their story?”

When I signed a 3-book deal with Anaiah Press, I had no idea all 3 novels would be published within the space of a year! But somehow, we did it, and The Orphan Beach completes my “Flight to Freedom” series of Christian romantic suspense. It’s proving to be a delight for readers because really, is there anything worse than having to wait years for the next instalment of a gripping storyline? You’re welcome.

But it was quite the whirlwind for me and now I feel like taking an incredibly long nap… but, of course, I won’t. My head is already spinning with new ideas as I start making plans for the next series, and this time I’m going back to my roots for the setting—England. I can’t wait!

As a reader and a writer, the setting plays a huge part in any story for me. It’s like an ever-present character—solid and reliable yet able to hold secrets and tantalize all five senses. I find great joy in transporting readers to the perfect location.

In the “Flight to Freedom” series, we see a kidnapping and a dramatic chase unfold on a tropical Caribbean island in The Glass Bottom Boat. We stick closer to home and enjoy the rugged beauty of the Oregon Coast when life on the run has to end and devastating secrets are unearthed in The Lighthouse Baby. And then midway through the latest book, The Orphan Beach, we leave the coast behind and find ourselves escaping danger by flying to an orphanage in vibrant Mexico—where peril awaits.

I’ll admit, I love to travel, and it’s even better in the name of “research” for my books!

“Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five or six of them. Most people don’t see any.” Orson Scott Card

I think that also applies to settings, absorbing that sense of place, somewhere I long to take my reader.

I hope you’ll check out The Orphan Beach and enjoy two unique backdrops as well as love, hope, and compelling suspense. Reviews are coming in:

“There is a depth here that is missing from other books in this genre. BE WARNED: This is a page-turner! You may not be able to put it down!”

“The storyline is intense. Laura Thomas gives you just enough suspense at the right time to keep you guessing and trying to figure out what is going to happen next…”

If you need me, I’ll be dreaming up your next setting in a charming rural English village, where you can be sure life will never be the same again…

I’m giving away an e-book copy of The Orphan Beach to THREE readers who leave a comment!
