The Mighty McKenzie Series continues with CONFLICTING EVIDENCE (available now!)

Meet Colin McKenzie and Peyton Sterling, high-school sweethearts who’d planned on spending the rest of their lives together. Until, one awful night, when Peyton’s brother is accused of the arson that nearly kills Colin and forces Peyton to choose between her family and the man she loves with all her heart. Years later, when her brother escapes prison and Colin is the US Marshal on his trail, Peyton’s forced to make the same heart-wrenching choice all over again.

Excerpt:
He was dressed in light gray pants, a white button-up shirt and a tie. His sleeves were long in spite of the warm temperatures outside. Little white scars on the backs of his hands left no doubt about the reason for those long sleeves. Peyton’s heart seemed to stutter in her chest and her throat tightened.

“Colin?” The once treasured name that she hadn’t allowed past her lips in years tumbled from them in a whisper that was a dash of pain and a huge dollop of guilt.

He didn’t even glance at her.

He slid a pistol out of the holster on his hip and leveled it at her brother. “Brian Sterling, you’re under arrest for felony escape and the murder of Officer Owen Jennings.”

Peyton drew in a sharp breath. What was Colin talking about? He was arresting her brother? Dear God, no. This couldn’t be happening. Not again.

The blood seemed to drain from her brother’s face, leaving him a gaunt, frightened shadow of the person he used to be. His haunted gray eyes, the same ones that Peyton saw every time she looked in a mirror, pleaded with her to help him. The same eyes that had stared at her in bewilderment from the back seat of a squad car as a barn burned to the ground in the distance. The same ones that had blurred with tears on the other side of a thick glass partition in the prison’s visiting room when Peyton broke the news about their mother’s death.

It was ten years ago all over again. And just like then, she was forced to make a choice that no one should ever have to make—the choice between the man she loved and her own flesh and blood.

I hope you enjoyed the excerpt! If you didn’t catch the other McKenzie books before this one, they’re available at all major online retailers. 5. This is an extremely hard question to answer. I've loved every one of the books I've read so far this year.

End Game by Rachel Dylan - kept me on edge until the end.

Hidden Secrets and In Her Sights, books one and two in the STEALTH series by Danica Winters - suspense and romance, kept me intrigued until the end. I'm ready for the rest of the series.

My favorite so far this year is Her Assassin For Hire by Danica Winters, the 3rd in her STEALTH series. Great characters and plot. The perfect mystery and romance mix on a cold wintry day. I'm still ready for the rest of the series.

  8. Sadly, I have had no time to read yet this year. I am looking forward to reading some Harlequin Intrigues soon, they are my comfort reads. One book I am looking forward to outside the Intrigue world is The Mail Order Bride's Secret by Linda Broday. It is book 3 in a series I have enjoyed.
