Dreams or Memories?

Congratulations to "Katrina D.", the winner in the giveaway!

As a young girl I used to dream of a farmhouse...the same farm house, over and over again. I would wake up and tell my mother about it, but she said it didn't sound familiar. I must have been around six or seven at the time. My mother was a tad eccentric, so she finally just shrugged and said, "Well, you must be remembering your former life." (Maybe she was eccentric, but more likely, she had just re-watched The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, or one of her odd movies.)

The dreams did eventually go away, but I can still recall them. I can still remember exactly what the farm house looked like. So, I decided to put the recollection to use and I crafted the story, DISTANT MEMORY. With the wonder of fiction I can take my strange little childhood dream and turn it into a romantic suspense novel!

What about you? Do you believe there is more to dreams than we take for granted? Do you easily write them off as the result of a scary movie or a particularly spicy meal?

DISTANT MEMORY

From USA TODAY bestselling author, Maureen A. Miller, comes this romantic thriller.

Whose life does Hollie Musgrave recall? Is it even her own?

Dreams of a house Hollie has never been to plague her. They haunted her since childhood when her mother used to joke about reincarnation. Now, as an adult, the dreams have returned. Desperate for relief she seeks out a hypnotist to pry any clues from her latent memories. One notion leads her to a farmhouse hundreds of miles away.

Todd Hewitt bought the farmhouse in Pennsylvania in search of seclusion after the drama of the past three years. When a woman shows up on his doorstep he assumes she is just another reporter looking for an interview, however, her tale is too absurd to be a hoax.

Together they try to piece together her missing past.

And someone has been anticipating that.
Someone has been waiting for Hollie to remember.

  1. I wouldn't say the dreams were crazy, but I did have several recurring dreams when I was a child. I have also had dreams that were premonitions or reflective of things happening. On the eve of my 5th birthday, I dreamed of a battle and my uncle being killed on the battlefield. He was a medic during the Korean War. I was punished for upsetting my parents and grandparents when I told them the next morning. My grandparents got the telegram that afternoon about my uncle. He had been killed just the way I had dreamed.

  2. I used to have a dream that was like a series with many episodes. It went on for many years. Eventully they stopped, but what I dreamt about is something that came back into my life later and has, in a way, become an important part of my everyday life.

  3. Congratulations on the new release! For me, I love to try to interpret my dreams. Sometimes I know there just has to be more behind them, and others are so weird I think, "What did I eat last night?" LOL

    1. Yeah, if I pick apart a dream, I can usually find some small nugget of the day that randomly activated the dream. Of course, if I eat corned beef...all bets are off. Hell's demons will invade my sleep.

  4. I've had a lot of weird and crazy dreams. The earlist I remember was from when I was either 5 or close to it. I won't go into the creepy details, but I woke my mom up screaming in my sleep and rolling off the bed. I remember her telling me I had a nightmare because I ate chocolate before bed.

  9. I usually can't remember all of my dreams. I only remember bits and pieces and the feelings from them. I don't think that they all come from scary movies though. I think things that I am worried or stressed about have a big impact on my dreams.

  10. I have had many dreams which have predicted what would happen in my life since I do have these feelings and premonitions frequently throughout my life. I have dreams about my life when I was young and the house we lived in with my family. Sometimes it is upsetting since it concerns family members at that time.
