She’s an ex-con
turned probationer desperate to restore her tarnished reputation. He’s an
ex-cop turned bounty hunter desperate to fulfill a personal vendetta. The only
thing they have in common may well destroy them both.
Wrongly convicted ex-con and recent
parolee Jenny Reynolds wants to forget her tarnished past and focus on a
brighter future. One that begins with a return to the small tourist town where
she grew up. The restoration of her family’s once proud Rest Easy Bed and
Breakfast is the only thing on her mind. Fleeing an ex who refuses to let her
go, what she doesn’t need to complicate her already problematic life is another
man. Enter handsome handyman Brad, a man who seems to care as much about
restoring the B and B as she does. A man who soon becomes ready, willing and
able to steal her heart. A man, as it turns out, with more than a few secrets
of his own. A dropout from law enforcement, the real Brad Collins will use
anyone and anything to fulfill a personal vendetta. When two pasts collide,
and danger threatens, their budding love for each other may be the first
casualty.
Here's a sneak Peek:
“Oh!” She
drew away then froze as he reached toward her. Sure hands cradled her elbows
and made her next breath hang in limbo above her heart, leaving her able to do
nothing more than stare up at him.
“Sorry.” He
released her with a sheepish smile. “I guess I did it again.”
“Did…” At the
breathy rasp, she swallowed and tried once more. “Did what again?”
He lifted one
of the towels from her arms and worked it briskly over his hair and face.
“Walked in unannounced and scared you.”
You scared me all right, but not in the way
you think. She clutched onto her towel and shivered. “In your defense, I
never did take down the walk-in, please sign.” With hard fought for calm in her
voice, she pressed at her face and hair with the towel she’d kept. “Anyway,
you’re no longer a stranger around here. You can walk in any time.”
“I may hold
you to that.” He peeled off his sodden shirt, brought the towel down to swipe
at a firm and solid chest, then lifted his chin to dry his neck.
Jenny gripped
the towel with more force as her fingers yearned to trail over hard muscle.
His head
lowered, he leveled a somber gaze on hers. “Now what?”
I have no idea. “For starters—” She
draped the towel she’d used over one arm and accepted the one he handed over.
“—I’ll take care of these.”
Though she
pivoted away to deposit them in the nearby hamper, his arms came around her as
soon as she faced him again. Lids lifted, she found herself the center of a
gray eyed gaze made up of two parts promise and one part hope.
“I’m not sure
I can do this right now.” Her attempt to sound resolute failed. The only real
resistance she came up with was a half-hearted push to his upper body.
“You can’t not do this right
now.”

I love suspense in my stories. This one looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteHi Debby. Hope you enjoy my efforts.
DeleteGood morning. Thank you so much for hosting me today, Maureen.
ReplyDeleteI love romantic suspense...and bounty hunter heroes fill all the blanks. Part law enforcement but without all the rules!
ReplyDeleteExactly, Trude. Brad is tough as nails with a heart of gold. I think, anyway.
DeleteI love both of these books so much. Huge congrats!! Bounty hunter heroes are awesome. Tough guys who are technically abiding by the law but can bend the rules a little.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Alicia. I actually came to the bounty hunter hero kicking and screaming at the 'gentle nudging' of a fellowess author.
DeleteI love them! Your books sound awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind, Martha. Thank you so much.
DeleteHaving a bounty hunter as a hero sounds exciting. No doubt a story fraught with danger and tension.
ReplyDeleteDanger and tension, yes, Mary. And my hero, hopefully, always tries to do the right thing.
Deletenice excerpt
ReplyDeleteThanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteHe has questionable motives that brought him into Jenny's life. He seems nice. His plans are, however a danger to her and his lack of honesty seems to turn out to be dangerous. Can't tell much more from the excerpt and description.
ReplyDeleteStill having trouble signing into my google account. Patricia B./librarypat.
I'm having trouble signing in with Google too, Patricia. His sense of honesty does get the better of him, I'm afraid.
DeleteWishing you much success, Margo.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Diane. I appreciate the support.
DeleteSounds like an interesting couple.
