Vote for your favorite book trailer

Giveaway of $10 gift card!

Of all the tasks associated with publishing a book, the most dreaded is book marketing. There are many reasons for this.

It takes time away from writing.
It’s hard to know what works.
Authors lack marketing skills.
Marketing often feels like selling.

I’ve found it helpful to ask for reader input when designing marketing strategies. Today I’d like feedback on two book trailer videos I’ve put together to market An Inner Fire (Book 1 in the Grayce Walters Contemporary Romantic Suspense series). One has a musical soundtrack. The other is narrated

Here’s how you can help: watch each video (even just a few seconds) and let me know which one you like better. As a thank you, I’ll randomly select one winner to receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

Now Available – An Inner Fire (audiobook)

Grayce Walters, animal acupuncturist, harbors a secret. She hides her intuitive gifts from the world until she becomes embroiled in arson on Seattle’s waterfront.

As a key crime witness, Grayce must convince the attractive, logical, by-the-numbers fire investigator, Ewan Davis, that the fire she witnessed is part of a larger criminal conspiracy. Grayce embarks upon a mission to gather proof of the dangerous threat. She enlists the help of her cross-dressing best friend, her street-wise assistant, and Davis’ poodle, to conduct her own investigation.

As her feelings for Davis shift between white hot passion and cold fear, Grayce must risk exposing her secrets to save Davis’ life. Davis must accept things, he can neither see, nor understand to solve the mystery and finally find the love he has stopped believing in.

With nudges from the protective poodle, Grayce and Davis confront shocking betrayal and international crime on the rain soaked streets of Seattle.

  1. Unfortunately, the 1st link didn't work, so I watched the one with narrated soundtrack only. In general, I prefer musical soundtracks. I guess it has something to do with how I absorb information. Music & written text work better for me than narration. As for the second video itself, it was good but the narration wasn't very suspenseful. It needed some kind of edge.

  2. I definitely prefer the musical soundtrack, it felt more suspenseful while the narrated one felt more like commercial overhype. Perhaps it was the tone of voice or even the tenor of her voice, I prefer the musical trailer.

  9. I prefer the one with the narrative. The music is nice, but tells you nothing about the book.

  11. Although I liked the music in the first book trailer the second with the narration gave more information about the book itself. That being said, the narration needs more suspense. jmvarner50@hotmail.com
