Why write a prequel?
Aloha, Readers and Writers!
In my latest novel, Girl of his Dream, I went way back to before my Dream Jumper Series began and wrote the sexy beginning for James and Kristina, my main characters in the series. If you’ve read the first book, The Dream Jumper’s Promise, you know secrets about these two that I can’t divulge here and it’s because of those secrets that my readers wanted to know more details of how the heroes met and how they ended up where they did when the first book begins. James and Kristina have history and it’s that history that was begging to be told.
Theirs is a difficult relationship, tragic at times, but always filled with a fiery attraction to rival Hawaiian volcanic eruptions. Did I mention that the book is set in Hawaii? The two lovers meet on Maui where he’s on vacation from cop duties and she teaches scuba. She takes him on as a student when he realizes that Maui is for lovers, he’s there alone and a distraction might be necessary.
Scuba instructorship is a profession that also supplied me with a paycheck for ten years while living on the Valley Isle in the eighties. Although I didn’t meet a hunky cop from Seattle who could enter my dreams (I don’t think,) and I didn’t witness the cover up of a crime, like Kristina, I did have some fun adventures as a single girl on Maui and hope that I’ve written what it was like to be young and free living on a tropical island and working in the tourist industry.
Girl of his Dream, is permafree so I invite you to grab yourself a copy and take a trip with me to the romantic island of Maui where all isn’t as it seems.
Maui heats up in this sexy romance with gasp-worthy moments of suspense!
When Seattle cop, James Dunn, saves a child from drowning in the Maui Hyatt pool and gets a free vacation on a tropical island, he books a Deep Diving course with Lahaina scuba instructor, Kristina Greene. Although James has vowed to steer clear of romance because his clairvoyance always ruins romantic prospects, he can't resist the feisty dive instructor. Days spent in the hot Maui sun with the handsome cop soon thaw Kristina's icy exterior and the two fall into a delicious romance.
But all isn't as it seems as Kristina not only fights to keep a dark secret from James, but worries that her too-good-to-be-true lover might have an ulterior motive for his attentions. When James finds himself in dreams with Kristina, he sees more than he wants of the woman he's falling in love with, and discovers a heartbreaking truth.
"This is a great read...with both steamy parts and mystery set on the beautiful island of Maui."- Eliza
Excerpt from a few pages in:
The sidewalk sign read Lahaina Dive and Surf and James almost didn’t go inside because of the word surf. But, as he passed the doorway, he glanced in and saw something that made him stop. Backing up a few steps, he looked again, and squinted to adjust his vision.
“Come in,” a female voice said. “We don’t bite. Not on Wednesdays, anyhow,” she chuckled.
James walked towards the counter where a woman stood folding T-shirts. A woman who, as he got closer, looked exactly like the birthday girl from the dance club two nights earlier. The woman with the tiara who’d almost fallen on him was now smiling at him. And a cute smile it was.
“You having a good day?” She set the shirts on a shelf and turned to him.
“I am having a good day and it might have just gotten better.” He realized too late that he sounded smarmy and switched to a more business-like tone. “I’m looking for a deep dive this week.”
Her name badge said Kristina and he tried to not stare seeing it was located on her left breast. A small breast covered by a red bikini top. Just enough breast to make the badge pop out.
She crossed her arms and tilted her head to one side, thinking. “I think we can accommodate that. You certified?”
“PADI certified.” Kristina was cute up close in full daylight, in her bikini top and a pair of board shorts that hung low on her hips. “I don’t dive regularly but I have about fifty dives under my belt, including Honolua Bay yesterday.”
“You sound experienced,” she said. “We do daily charters to Molokini Crater or the Cathedrals off Lanai. The first dive is deep. Have you ever done either of those sites?”
He shook his head. Kristina was tanned with long chestnut-colored hair that had hints of sun streaks. Her smile made him think naughty girl next door. She was younger than him at thirty, but not jail bait. Not if she’d been dancing at an over twenty-one club the other night. “When do we start?”
