The Joys Of Writing A Series…

Congratulations to "Linda V.", the winner in Toni's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!

So book #6 of my award-winning, bestselling Cold Justice Series, COLD HEARTED, releases tomorrow. Some readers might be intimidated at the thought of jumping into a series at book #6, but all my books feature different heroes & heroines, and each story stands-alone.

What is the hardest thing about writing a series?

For me, it’s keeping the character’s voice true, and remembering the minute details that I add for color, that then become an integral element of a character’s backstory. And many of my books overlap slightly in timeline, which means I also have to keep track of what each character is doing when, including things as simple as a phone call to each other at a certain point in the storyline.

What’s the best thing about writing a series?

Keeping in touch with characters I’ve fallen in love with and exploring more of their lives. Also, developing more depth to characters who have minor roles in earlier books. I love finding out what makes a walk-on character tick.

Darsh Singh is the hero of COLD HEARTED and he’s been mentioned in passing several times in previous books. In A COLD DARK PLACE (which is currently free BTW), he’s in the team meeting. In COLD FEAR, his boss is thinking about piling more work on his desk. But we’ve never actually met this former Marine Scout/Sniper before, and digging into his psyche was a real treat.

What are people saying about COLD HEARTED?

Here is a genius who gets each book down to pat every single time! Compels readers to keep the pages turning deep into the night, when we all should know better.” Maldivian Book Reviewer’s Realm of Romance.

Hunting For A Killer...

Detective Erin Donovan expects life to quiet down after the arrest and conviction of a serial rapist who terrified her university town last summer. Then two young women are brutally slain and the murders bear all the hallmarks of the campus rapist. Did Erin arrest an innocent man? Now her job is at stake and tensions are high and just when it looks like things can’t get worse, her department gets the help it needs to solve the double homicide—in the form of a man Erin has never been able to forget.

Who Doesn't Play By The Rules.

FBI Agent Darsh Singh has no interest in reliving the past. Three years ago, his feelings for Erin Donovan had him breaking all his rules about getting involved. Now his only interest in the former NYPD detective is figuring out if she screwed up a rape investigation and helped send an innocent man to prison. But being forced to work together rekindles their old attraction, and as Darsh and Erin fall for each other, the campus predator fixates on Erin. The race is on to identify the ruthless killer before he makes Erin his final victim.

  2. This is one of my most favorite series! Toni is an auto buy for me. And, I'm manic about reading in order but each of these stories stands alone very well. Characters from previous stories appear but their descriptions are sufficient and the new couple owns the new story. Highly recommend this series whether you win the books or not.

  14. A new author to me. I bought these when they were on sale, but I would love an audio copy. I use to read romantic suspense all the time and somewhere along the line I quit. Looking forward to indulging in one of my first loves.
