THE EVERYDAY SUPERHERO

Congratulations to "Colleen C.", the winner in Angi's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated.

Hello again and thanks for joining me. Most of the heroes in romantic suspense have training and work for or in law enforcement or special forces. But sometimes the average guy has to face stepping into a hero's role. Of course, the real heroes never think of themselves that way. I've written about a couple of those guys recently and it was really neat to tell their story. I have a theme song for them…

I recently watched THE PACIFIER... I've always been a Vin Diesel fan. But I actually like his character growth and the super-ordinary way he dealt with the kids and their problems. HEY, I know things don't work that way in real life…but I do write fiction. But it reminded me how extraordinary some real folks are. At the end of the movie, there's a SMASH MOUTH song that I listen to all the time now: EVERYDAY SUPERHERO. Hadn't heard it? You should take a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSLtAmYH_n4

Thinking about dads… A fan posted this on my page yesterday: "The best kind of hero is the one who takes time to be a good dad." ~Lenore E.   I 'googled' Dad of the Year and found some heartbreaking stories, but also something that made me laugh out loud: http://bzfd.it/1p7LqSb

Thinking about grads…  Someone in my life forwarded me the 2014 UT at Austin Commencement speech by Naval Admiral William McRaven who served as a Navy SEAL. There were many thing the Admiral could have told those graduates, and he took on a big subject: Changing the world. And it all starts with making your bed. You'll love it, take a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxBQLFLei70

  1. My favorite everyday hero would be my Dad. He may not be military, law enforcement, or firefighter. The thing that count was he was there for my siblings and me everyday doing the simplest of things: spending time with us when we were kids.

    1. That is a HUGE thing. Because once you have kids, you know how much you just want time alone or to sit and rest. Following kids to ballgames or even just in the yard to play is indeed (somedays) a superhero feat !!

  2. My favourite everyday superhero has to be my husband. He's there in all the ways that matter, and I have no idea what I do without him. Particularly heroic - when he comes home after a long day at work, sees how frazzled I am, grabs the kids and picks up dinner so I can sit and breathe for a few minutes. :) chelsea.jack (at) gmail (dot) com

  3. My husband had to have been my favorite hero. He could fix any problem I had and could always find me, literally, when I was lost on our 100 acre property. This happened more often than I can to admit.

  4. My everyday superhero is my dad... first growing up and seeing how much he did for the community as a cop and a volunteer firefighter... second any time something happens, my sisters and I know to call him and he can help... he is so handy... I have done so many fix it projects with him... he is definitely my superhero! :)

  7. My favorite every day super hero is my boyfriend. He comes through to support me and our girls every single day. He works hard all the time to keep us happy and taken care of. We had a really bad winter in Ohio, and he took on grocery shopping so that I wouldn't have to go out in the cold and snow.

    Your books look great!
