Something To Treasure

Congratulations to "Joanne B." and "Julie O", the winners of Christy's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!

Hi! I’m Christy Newton and here’s a little bit about me:

I live in Indiana with my husband and two daughters. I’m not near as adventurous as my characters so I live vicariously through them.

Something To Treasure is book 2 in my Simon & Cammie series.

Murder, jealousy and treasure…

When Cammie Adams, determined novice PI, gets an urgent call from her ex, she is compelled to take his case. Miles, a luxury hotel owner and an upstanding citizen of the Upton Hills Community, finds one of the maids dead in an empty suite and turns to Cammie for help to keep his beloved hotel from being tarnished. With her partner and complicated boyfriend, Simon, she takes on a case that might just be their last. Her ex’s hotel is an eighty-year-old building that has secrets of its own. Will Miles win Cammie back? Will Simon stay by her side when the unthinkable happens? Can they catch the murderer to save the hotel and her ex’s reputation or will the case take a turn that will leave them lost forever?

Excerpt from Something To Treasure:

He wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a deep kiss. “I’m taking you out tomorrow.”

“Where are you taking me?” Cammie asked breathless.

A sly smile spread across his lips. “To a restaurant with an amazing view.”

Her heart sped up as he kissed her neck. “A view of what?”

Simon stretched his arms above his head casually. “Paris.”

Her eyes widened. “Paris! The one in France?”

“Yep. We’re going to dine inside the Eiffel Tower. Then we’re going to watch the sunset from the top.”

She laughed. Her man was impulsive to say the least. “Simon, that sounds amazing, but we are kind of in the middle of a murder investigation.”

He shook his head. “We haven’t done anything spontaneous in a while. The investigation can wait a couple of days until we get back. Sweetheart, I’m taking you to Paris. We leave in the morning so make sure you’re packed tonight.” He winked.

“We’re going to Paris just like that?” she asked.

He nodded. “I’ve made all the reservations.”

“Just when I thought I had you figured out,” she said, shaking her head and trying to contain her excitement.

“That may never happen. Go pack, we leave bright and early.”

Simon is full of surprises and loves adventure. What has been the greatest adventure you’ve ever been on or read about?

  3. Greatest adventure? Well, I just returned from a road trip (with my mum) where the only set plan was the starting date and place and the end date & place [drive out, fly back]. 3,200 kilometres, random roadside motels (including one where I was convinced she was going to pull a Norman Bates on me so I kept both eyes on the door whilst showering), zero 3G reception half the time, and way too many unpaved roads and steep hills in a Toyota Yaris definitely made for a fun time :). Simon & I would be BFFs, haha.

  6. This sounds like a great series. And the excerpt had the right spark of romantic adventure. Who wouldn't love to hop a flight to Paris. My favorite adventure has been combing the back streets of London, looking for an old church where my ninth great-grandparents were married in the sixteenth century. And I found it! :) Much success, Christy!

  9. My greatest adventure was a black bear dropping from the roof of my mom's and mine mountain vacation cabin onto the deck. Let me tell you...
The experts on TV lie. You can make all the noise you want (think high pitched screaming) and wave your hands ( think flailing) and that darn bear will follow you to the door and test your nerves as it stands on it's back legs and peers in at you. Luckily, it got bored and moved on.

Love adventure and a surprise trip to Paris would be amazing. Look forward to reading this series. Thank you for introducing yourself and the giveaway.
