Congratulations to "Colleen", the winner in Laura's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!

Thank you for inviting me to visit Just Romantic Suspense! As you can probably guess, I love this genre of fiction.

One of my favorite parts of writing the Tracers series is all the fun research I get to do. I’ve toured crime labs, gone on police ride-alongs, visited a body farm. I jump at any chance to see a new side of law enforcement up close.

My latest Tracers book, EXPOSED, is the story of Maddie Callahan, a forensic photographer at a world-renowned Delphi Center Crime Lab, where forensic scientists known as Tracers help detectives solve their most challenging cases.

Maddie is consumed by her work as a forensic photographer. Every time she grabs her camera and treks out to a crime scene, she is on a mission. Maddie considers herself “the eyes of the jury” and it is her job to document every detail, every possible scrap of evidence, so that people who have committed crimes can be brought to justice.

While writing EXPOSED I had a chance to learn about crime scene photography. People who do this job, such as Maddie, have to be extremely observant. You never know what tiny, almost-invisible bit of evidence might become pivotal to a case. An entire murder investigation might hinge on a piece of lint stuck to a bloody footprint. Or a cigarette butt tossed in a yard. Or a small shard of glass.

After touring crime labs and interviewing forensic photographers who do the job day in and day
out, often under adverse working conditions, I have a whole new respect for these professionals. They put in long, hard hours and see many heart-wrenching scenes that leave a lasting impact.

Maddie is tough, but vulnerable, and she’s passionate about what she does. Her career is on track, but her personal life is something of a mess. Following a major loss, she’s become closed off to people and has no interest in getting involved in a relationship. This is when she meets FBI agent Brian Beckman, who takes an immediate interest in her and resolves to get past her defenses.

One of my favorite aspects of EXPOSED is the emotional back-and-forth between this heroine and the hero who is determined to unlock her heart.

I hope you will enjoy EXPOSED as much as I enjoyed writing it! People ask me all the time if you need to read the Tracers books in order, and I’m happy to say that isn’t necessary. Each story focuses on a different mystery and a different romantic couple, so you can dive right in.

  4. Congrats on your success, Laura! I have downloaded a couple of your Tracer series books because Adrienne Giordano gushes about them so much! I haven't gotten the chance to read them yet, but I really look forward to when I can! It is also great to hear that I can start anywhere in the series. I normally like to start at the beginning but sounds like I just need to dive in with any of them. Thanks so much and good luck with Exposed!

  14. I was just admiring the cover of Exposed today at the grocery store--congratulations! Forget USA Today or NYT, I'm aiming for the endcap at Krogers as my marker of success (even if it's only the Kroger where I shop, LOL).
I would have loved to have been a forensic scientist...I think writing about them is probably even better...you only have to imagine the gross stinky parts...Can't wait to read this!

  15. Love all of Laura Griffin's Tracer books. She's an autobuy author for me.
