By: Ella Grace
Congratulations to "Merisha A", the winner of Ella's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!
I’m a southerner through and through. Even though I lived up
north for several years, the saying, “You can take the girl out of the South
but you can’t take Southern out of the girl” definitely holds true for me. I
have a thick drawl, bless people’s hearts without even realizing it, and if it
were possible, I’d make sweet tea the national drink.
When my publisher suggested a new series, based in the
South, I jumped on the idea. My Christy Reece books are known for their darkness
and grit. Wanting to write a different kind of series under Ella Grace but one that’s
still sexy and suspenseful, I created my own little town in Alabama called
Midnight. I know about small southern towns, about lies that get told so many
times they become fact, and about secrets that get buried miles deep.
As I wrote the first book, MIDNIGHT SECRETS, the town came
alive and the characters in Midnight told me their secrets. One dark event that
no one talks about anymore is the murder/suicide of Maggie and Beckett
Wilde.
It’s not until Savannah Wilde returns to Midnight to put the
family home up for sale that she learns the truth about her parents’ deaths.
Zach Tanner, the man who broke her heart years ago, is the town’s new chief of
police. He’s also the only one she can trust to help her.
Lies, betrayals, broken promises, and unrealized dreams lurk
beneath the calm, peaceful façade of Midnight. And if Zach and Savannah can
stay alive to discover the truth, they might just find the happiness that has eluded
them for so many years can still be theirs.
AT THE
STROKE OF MIDNIGHT, THE HEAT BEGINS
On a
hot southern night, with a storm on the horizon, a family is shattered. Three
beautiful daughters—Savannah, Samantha, and Sabrina Wilde—go on with their
lives, each significantly changed, as they bear the memory of the
murder-suicide that killed their parents. For years, they have stayed away from
Midnight, Alabama. Until Midnight calls them home.
Savannah
is the first one back, when a grueling case in Nashville leads the young
prosecutor to seek shelter in the quiet of the once grand Wilde mansion. But
when she finds letters casting doubt on her family’s dark, shameful past, she
realizes that peace in Midnight is a shallow façade and sinister secrets lurk
beneath the surface. Zach Tanner, once the town’s bad boy, is now the new
police chief and still has a wild hold over her. Zach can feel it, too, but he
hurt Savannah once. As teenagers, they broke every rule together. Now it’s his
job to keep her safe, even though he isn’t sure who her enemies are, or which
ones might be his own. All he knows is that they have only each other to face
dangers they can’t see coming.
Ella will be giving away a copy of MIDNIGHT SECRETS to one lucky person leaving a comment or email.

I just love that Southern drawl. My supervisor who had retired, has that Southern drawl. After working with her so long, I picked up that Southern drawl without realizing it. My supervisor pointed it out to me one day. I always thought that I was tone-deaf, well, that day, it looks like I wasn't. I was surprised by that revelation.

DeleteHi Kai May! That's so cool. When I lived up North, I lost a lot of my accent. Even started saying 'dog' instead of 'dawg'! Within a week of returning to Alabama, I sounded like I'd never left. :)
Midnight Secrets is an excellent book. It differs from the LCR series but it is just as good. The LCR books are gritty and driven by action-packed plots. Whereas, Midnight Secrets is a character driven romantic suspense book. The focus is on romance and relationships with an element of mystery and suspense.
ReplyDeleteThe reader becomes invested in the main characters and their relationship but also in some unique minor characters and the town, which truly is a character as well.
Savannah and Zach, the main characters are very likable and have you hoping that they will have their second chance at love.
It is great to see another side of Christy Reece. It is a testament to your writing skill that you written a book so different from the LCR books but just as enjoyable and intriguing.
By the way, it is definitely hot!

Hi Maureen, you're right, the accent never completely goes away. However, when I lived up North, my family thought I talked funny. I think it was that 'dog' 'dawg' thing! :)
DeleteIf you get the chance to read MIDNIGHT SECRETS, hope you enjoy!
I love Christy's books. Can't wait to read this. The small town story is a lot of fun! lsscarchuk@att.net

Hi Tara! Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy your trip to Midnight! :)
DeleteI was born and raised in oklahoma but my hubby is from Florida. the first time we visited his home i fell in love with the South. I love the drawl, the southern charm and the southern manners. Books written about the south are full of all three. love to win a copy of this book. thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteHi Trish, I love the South too and we do have our charm. In Midnight, you'll see the charm but you'll also see some not so nice characters, too. Liars, adulterers, murderers. Fortunately there are also some strong, heroic men and courageous women. If you get a chance to read MIDNIGHT SECRETS, hope you enjoy!
DeleteI've been dying to read your books!! This makes me want them even more! Thank you so much for the chance to win it!! I have an okie accent well that is what everyone tells me since I'm from oklahoma.

Hey y'all! I'm from Oklahoma, too. Love the deep southern drawl and I love Ella Grace's "Midnight Secrets" even more! Lord have mercy, that Zach just took my breath away. And those Wilde triplets are all sweet as peaches. I do declare that Ella Grace must be akin to another of my very favorite authors, Christy Reece.
ReplyDeleteAll kidding aside, Ella Grace has written an outstanding debut in her "Wildefire" series. A well-balanced blend of steamy romance and suspense that keeps you guessing. Can't wait for Samantha and Quinn's story in "Midnight Lies."
Why, thank'ye kindly, Oklanannie. Those are pert near the sweetest words I ever did hear. :)
DeleteI'm so happy you enjoyed MIDNIGHT SECRETS and happier still that you're looking forward to MIDNIGHT LIES. Thank you!
