Congratulations to "Brenda R." the winner of Carmen's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!
One
of the things I noticed about novels and movies is that over the decades writers have
made the majority of men out to be cold-hearted, uncaring men who needed tamed.
Maybe
it’s because my father raised me, but I never saw this. In fact, through my
years, I’ve seen just the opposite. Most of the men I’ve known have loved women
to their own detriment.
So I wondered: how could I prove men
have feelings?
Well,
this isn’t one of those infallible, never-slanted polls taken by Fox or CNN. I did
this on my own. I chose not to look at just one source, but many. I decided the
best way to prove men had feelings was to use their own words.
I researched
Billboard, Top 100, Country’s Best, and several other music lists to find the
top love songs in all genres, across all ages. And then, I looked up who wrote the
lyrics because that’s what really matters, right?
Surprise…I was correct. Of course, if I wasn’t, you
wouldn’t have seen this post. Would
it shock you to hear that ninety percent of all love songs—in every genre—were
written by men. All those gooey, sweet love songs we love, even the ones sung
by women, came out of a man’s mind.
Why does this interest me?
Because
I write about strong male characters who, though they may seem controlling at
times, love deeply with all of their heart and soul. My leads are willing to do
anything to get, keep, and protect the women they love.
So…if
you enjoy reading a romantic-suspense with a strong male protagonist, my novels
are for you. And to start you off, my first bestseller, She Belongs
to Me, is only .99 cents until
the end of January. And from there, I have three more novels you can read about
below, which are all value priced at $3.99.
After
secrets and a mysterious background leave a wife’s life hanging by a thread, a
husband must look for answers in the only place he knows—the past.
Book I of the Nantahala Series
When
two strangers have nothing left but their dreams, they must forge a
relationship in Nantahala, North Carolina, a small town known as Land of the Noonday
Sun.
When
Alexandra’s choices dissolve into Entangled Dreams, pushing her down a dark and
dismal path, she must trust her instincts to escape danger, but be able to
surrender all to find her happily ever after. Knowing how to decipher the
difference, will be her toughest challenge.
When
a new attorney accepts a case of a woman accused of attempted murder, he finds
himself entwined in age-old secrets and a family that will stop at nothing to
conceal them—even murder.
Carmen characterizes her
stories as modern-day fairytales, as they overflow with romance, mystery,
suspense, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a fairytale be without a
tragic event setting the stage? All of her novels are sensual, but not erotic,
gripping but not graphic and will make you love, laugh, cry, gasp, and hope.
She
loves talking about all things books, so please connect with her via one of the
links below.
Carmen is offering SHE BELONGS TO ME at the discounted rate of $.99 until the end of January. She is also giving away a digital copy of LAND OF THE NOONDAY SUN to one lucky person who leaves a comment or stops by her Facebook page. (Just mention JRS sent you! :)

I like reading about all different types of heroes and my favorites always show how much they care through their actions.

Thank you for having me, Maureen. Just Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite blogs to find new novels and learn about new authors. I hope your readers will take advantage of the .99 cents special and enjoy my first novel She Belongs to Me. And of course, I can't wait to see everyone on Facebook for the chance at my second novel Land of the Noonday Sun.
ReplyDeleteI don't need to be put in the drawing because I have had the pleasure of reading all of Carmen's books and they are all very good! She does have a different approach with her heroes, and it is nice to see variety out there. None of us want to read the same book all the time. I think what sets her apart is the mystery part of her books. She always keeps you hanging until the end! Congrats on your success, Carmen!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy. How sweet. And yes, I do like to split my romantic-suspense right down the middle. A fifty/fifty split of romance and mystery to keep readers who love both genres flipping the pages. :)
DeleteI'm always looking for new authors and Carmen's books sound interesting. Love your take on male characters, Carmen! I am interested in reading Land of the Noonday Sun. 2sonreader at gmail DOT com
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving a comment. I do write a little differently, and yet, I still try to keep to the four "S's" we all love about a great male protagonists. "Sweet, smart, strong, and sexy" From there, they each have their own quirks, but if they don't fall under the first four S's, why bother reading, right? LOL! Hope you agree. :)
DeleteYour a new author to me and I'm intrigued by your chat here today. A 50/50 mix of mystery and romance sounds great and I will enjoy reading how your view of a hero influences your books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for spending time with your readers and for the contest.

Nice to meet you, Brenda. Thank you for commenting. As I wrote above, I do try to stick to my top criteria...what I refer to as my four "S's" (Sweet, smart, strong, and sexy), but after that, I try to breathe a different personality into all my male characters.
DeleteAnd, as I mentioned in the post, I love to interact with readers, so please check out my Twitter and Facebook links too.
Have a wonderful weekend. :)
Love it! You promo your books so well. I love that if you were wrong you wouldn't have written this post..LOL. I agree most men love with their heart. I have one❤❤
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim! And LOL! Yep...if I was wrong, you would never have seen the post. That's how I win the few arguments hubby and I have. I only argue if I know I can *prove* it. Because of course, I'm always right. ;) I know you have all my books...so I guess I'll have to register you for the next one.
DeleteThese sound intriguing.

Men do have feelings. They just hide it well due to "society's rules" of how a man and woman should act. Men hide their feelings because if they show it in public, it signifies weakness. They are defined in the past as the bread winners, hunters, and protectors of their household. If they fail, it is not acceptable.

I so agree, Kai! My man is that man... He's the tough guy who no one would believe is a teddy bear on the inside. As a police detective, he's learned to put on the hard candy shell, but inside he's sweet chocolate. LOL!
DeleteIt's nice to meet a new-to-me author today. I just love that there's a good split of romance and mystery. Each of the books sound like good reads.
ReplyDeletekacbooks(at)hotmail(dot)com
Nice to meet you, Karen. I write what I love to read, the reason I'm always stopping by Maureen's place. I'm not comfortable with just romance, and a straight mystery without romance---why bother? LOL! Every story needs a little romance. I feel cheated if I don't get at least one good kiss. :)
DeleteA fabulous post. My Father, the consummate Gentleman, is nothing like many of the heroes I read about.
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Thank you for stopping by, Mary. I hope that means you'll enjoy a gentleman hero. LOL!
DeleteMy favorite part of this website is being introduced to new authors! I have just downloaded She Belongs to Me and can't wait to have the opportunity to dive right in!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway (and the first book at .99 cents!)
